WHERE TO SHOP FOR THE BEST DEALS
If you are living in the city, you may be lured by goods sold at shopping malls or the supermarkets both during sale and non-sale seasons. Don’t just restrict your shopping at the malls. Do you know that there are many other places to bargain hunt?
Here is a list of possible bargain-hunting grounds:
Flea Markets and Garage Sales
Look in local newspapers and on community boards for flea market postings. These sales are usually held on a weekly basis in the same location. From books to furniture to odds and ends, most flea markets carry a huge selection of items. You do have to have a discerning eye and be willing to barter to get the best deal but here you can find some terrific items at a very low cost.
Garage sales are smaller versions of flea markets. You can buy other people’s unwanted items at a minimal cost from their own home premises. The sales vary greatly based upon the individual. Check newspaper ads or keep your eye out for signs. If a phone number is listed for a sale, call and ask what types of items are available to save yourself an unnecessary trip.
These sales take patience and time but can be well-worth the effort. Bring cash when shopping and remember, if you didn’t need it, it’s not a bargain! Only buy things that you were planning to purchase at a retail store anyway so that you won’t end up having to hold your own sale to get rid of all that junk.

Online
Shopping for groceries or other items such as toiletries and accessories can be cheaper online. Compare prices among stores before you shop and check out what the shipping fee is like before you make a purchase.
Factory Outlets
Check out if there are any factory outlets near you. Goods sold at such outlets are many times cheaper than those sold elsewhere of the same quality. Branded goods are sold at a discounted rate along with other items. So if you need a bed sheet or two, tableware or a change in your wardrobe, heading for the factory outlet is a good option.
Discount Chain Stores
Target and K-Mart are a few examples of chain stores. Such stores sell a wide range of goods at low affordable prices.
Thrift Stores
Thrift stores are another option if you want items at good value. You have to patient when you browse the rack of clothes for a good find.
Farmers Market
You can find good value for money fresh produce at the Farmers Market. It is even cheaper if you buy produce in bulk. Check out where such markets are located in your local websites.
So if you look around, there are places that offer great bargains to help you save your dollars. Be on the lookout for sales and options and do your homework first before you shop.
